PANS PANDAS UK

Reasons to be cheerful!

PANS PANDAS UK Chair, Vicky Burford, honoured by The Happy List 2022.

The Independent has published the annual Happy List in honour of 50 remarkable Britons who embody kindness, ingenuity and dedication.

The Independent panel selected the list from hundreds of reader nominations, and included Vicky Burford, co-founder and Chair of PANS PANDAS UK, in the prestigious roll call.
Unknown to Vicky, she was nominated by parents involved with the charity.

Supporter Claire said; “Vicky is an inspiration; she is the glue that holds together thousands of families and fights for change so that young people living with these conditions get the correct care.
“Vicky is patient, incredibly kind, knowledgeable, diplomatic, compassionate, and driven. Her enthusiasm and energy are driving forward much-needed change in the UK, both for individual families and systematically across health, social care, and education systems.”

Vicky commented, “The charity and all the families involved should be proud of this award because our mission is a huge collaborative effort. However, I am very moved that people nominated me – and it has spurred me on to continue the work – there’s a lot to do to ensure that all doctors are familiar with the conditions PANS and PANDAS.”
The Independent’s Happy List was founded in 2008 as an antidote to the many awards that glorify wealth or celebrity. Instead, it shines a light on people who do amazing things for important causes and inspire positive change.
