Get involved in the latest PANS and PANDAS research

Date Published: 14/07/2025

PANS PANDAS UK is supporting a ground-breaking study by the University of Hertfordshire, identifying how children and young people with PANS and PANDAS may be affected by eating restrictions or other adverse eating experiences.

This opportunity to capture lived experiences will help highlight patterns in eating behaviour and identify any food-related concerns, expanding the knowledge of PANS and PANDAS and setting the foundations for further research.

“We were excited to play a part in the early stages of this research project, and we’re so pleased that a participant study is now taking place. We support this much-needed research and the progress towards a better understanding of the conditions.”

Katy Hindson, Health Lead, PANS PANDAS UK

Participating in the research

To be eligible for this study, you must be over the age of 18 and a caregiver of a child diagnosed with PANS or PANDAS between the ages of 6 and 17 years.

After completing a consent form, you will be contacted to arrange an online interview. You will be asked a series of questions about your child’s eating and dietary behaviour, before and after their diagnosis of PANS or PANDAS.

Further Information and Application form

“We anticipate that the results of this study will expand current knowledge regarding eating behaviours displayed by children with PANS or PANDAS. It is also hoped that your lived experiences will be able to highlight areas needed for future research and provide recommendations for any support needs.”
