PANS PANDAS UK

Our work in Scotland

With separate legal, education, health, and social care systems in Scotland and a devolved government, we are working to develop Scotland-specific resources where required, as well as engaging with Scotland’s public services.
This page highlights some of our work in Scotland, and is the place to find Scottish-specific resources.

It is important to note that most of our other resources will be relevant across Scotland, but terminology and models of working may be different.  Similarly, our Scotland resources can be applied outside of Scotland. As our work progresses, we hope to add additional resources for devolved services across the rest of the UK.

Getting it Right for Every Child

Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) is at the heart of all Children’s Services in Scotland.

The GIRFEC National Practice Model provides a framework for analysing the impact that PANS and PANDAS can have on children and young people, as well as assisting in the consideration of supports needed.

Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs)

In Scotland, Health, Education and Social Care are devolved matters, meaning that they fall under the remit of the Scottish Government and will have different policies and organisational structures to the other UK nations. We would urge anyone looking to write to their elected representatives to raise awareness to contact both their MP and MSP.

Contacting your MSP

If you are someone living in Scotland affected by PANS or PANDAS and wish to write to your MSP to seek their support, either for you personally, or to move things forward more generally in Scotland, you can find a template letter below to help you get started.

Everyone in Scotland is represented by a Constituency MSP and several Regional MSPs. Only one of your MSPs can represent you at any one time, so it’s worthwhile reviewing the list of MSPs to decide who you think would be best to represent you. Use the buttons to find details of your MSPs and their contact details, view out suggested template letter, and find out more about the PANS PANDAS All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

PANS PANDAS UK are keen to engage with MSPs to discuss the impact of the conditions and how we can move things forward together to better support those affected in Scotland. If you are an MSP and would like to support PANS PANDAS UK in advocating for change in Scotland, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at info@panspandasuk.org
