Shining a light on PANS and PANDAS
We are thrilled that SEN Magazine, the UK’s leading publication for special educational needs, has featured PANS and PANDAS in its latest issue.
With its wide readership among educators, allied professionals and care givers, SEN Magazine is a powerful platform for raising awareness and improving understanding.
The article, starting on page 31, highlights how these conditions can lead to sudden and severe changes in behaviour and functioning. It reminds us that “early recognition and a joined-up response between health and education can prevent unnecessary distress for children and families”.
Thank you also to Evie, a member of our Youth Board, for bravely sharing her personal story which brings these realities to life and shows the resilience families demonstrate every day.
We encourage you to share this news widely within your networks. Greater awareness means more children and young people will get the understanding and support they deserve.
We are so pleased that Evie’s story will now be able help others, we hope it will help to raise the profile of PANS-PANDAS and lead to better recognition in schools and support for sufferers in the future.
We are immensely proud of our daughter Evie and the courage she has shown in sharing such a difficult experience. We are sure that some good will come from this, so we’re grateful for the brilliant work by the PANS PANDAS UK team.
