April 2026

Over recent months, PANS PANDAS UK has been reflecting on whether remaining on X, formerly Twitter, continues to align with who we are and what we stand for. As part of this process, we met this week with members of our amazing Twitter Team to discuss our concerns and to hear what the community that has supported us so strongly over the years had to say.

Our charity exists to advance understanding of PANS and PANDAS among professionals and the wider public, and to provide evidence-based information and advice to families. Everything we do is rooted in compassion, integrity and a commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment where families feel heard and valued.

Sadly, X has changed in ways that no longer reflect these values. The platform no longer offers the safe, respectful and inclusive space that our community deserves. We have seen a rise in harmful and discriminatory content, along with a decline in the safeguards that once helped protect vulnerable groups. These shifts make it harder for us to engage confidently or to uphold the compassion, dignity and integrity that guide our work.

Remaining on X would not be consistent with our responsibility to protect the families and young people we serve. In good conscience, we cannot continue to use a platform that no longer supports the positive and constructive conversations that are central to our mission. After thoughtful discussion and careful reflection, we have made the decision to leave X. We know how important it is for families, supporters and professionals to stay connected with us, and we invite everyone to continue engaging with us across our other social media channels. These spaces allow us to maintain a safer and more positive environment where we can keep raising awareness, sharing stories, supporting families and advocating for greater understanding of PANS and PANDAS.

To our incredible Twitter Team – the people who regularly shared our posts, promoted the charity and used their valuable time to raise awareness of PANs and PANDAS – thank you for standing with us. Your passion and dedication have made a real difference, and we look forward to continuing this journey together on platforms that better reflect our mission and values.
