New Fabricated or Induced Illness Practice Guidance

New Fabricated or Induced Illness Practice Guidance Image

BASW – The British Association of Social Workers

They have published welcome guidance for Fabricated or Induced Illness (Fii) and Perplexing Presentations. Written by Cathleen Long, Dr Judy Eaton, Sally Russell OBE, Dr Fiona Gullon-Scott, and Professor Andy Bilson, the abbreviated guidance for social workers emerged from discussions with practitioners, academics and family members. The guide is intended to enable social workers and other practitioners to adopt professional curiosity and respond ethically to concerns about FII whilst ensuring safeguards are in place for children and young people at risk of harm. The full guidance will be published in September.
